Our Technology Explained
BRASH use Microsoft's latest Visual Studio 2005 Dot Net technology as its development tools. This ensures that our clients have a robust and flexible solution and never have to worry about if their software will run on new operating systems. We also use Microsoft's SQL 2005 Database server for storing client's data. For single sites we distribute the 2005 SQL Express Edition. Our web applications are developed using ASP.NET 2.0
If you are looking for weighbridge software for your company, we would advise you to check what development tools are being used by the solution provider. You may find after spending thousands of pounds on a new solution you have to purchase an upgrade because the development software is no longer supported. This exert is taken from microsoft's website;
Technical Summary Microsoft will ship key components of the Visual Basic 6.0 runtime with Windows Vista in order to enable customers to run Visual Basic 6.0 applications on Windows Vista. A set of applications written on the Visual Basic 6.0 runtime are being tested for compatibility between Windows XP and Windows Vista with a goal that applications work similarly on both operating systems. As with any release of the operating system, there may be differences in functionality that will require modifications to your applications. These differences will be addressed on a case-by-case basis via normal support channels. Any issues that are found will be documented on the Visual Basic Support site (http://msdn.microsoft.com/vbasic/support/). The Visual Basic 6.0 IDE will be supported on Windows Vista as part of the Visual Basic 6.0 Extended Support policy until April 8, 2008. Both the Windows Vista and Visual Basic teams are testing the Visual Basic 6.0 IDE on Windows Vista.
You may also need to check on what type of database your solution provider is offering. Does their database system cater for a multi-user configuration? How does the database recover from a power glitch? Does the database system have recovery functionality? Does the database system cater for replicated sites (where two databases share the same table information)
Can your solution provider give you the option of using hand held devices? We have developed customised solutions which take advantage of the new Mobile 5.0 components.
